As RBR+TVBR reported on Monday (1/15), Connoisseur Media is selling four stations in Connecticut to Red Wolf Broadcasting Co.
These stations were part of a five-station deal that closed in July 2014 that saw Westport, Conn.-based Connoisseur acquire the quintet from Buckley Radio for exactly $7,922,035.
Now, Connoisseur is selling the fifth station it got from Buckley.
The facility now being traded is Class C WWCO-AM 1240 in Waterbury, Conn.
The buyer is Parthenon Holdings and Trignition Media LLC, and they are also getting silent FM translator W292FI at 106.3 MHz in Waterbury.
The deal is valued at $260,000.
This transaction first came to fruition in July 2017, when a $5,000 escrow deposit was made by the buyer with broker and escrow agent Dick Kozacko of Kozacko Media Services.
An additional $10,000 was placed in escrow with the filing of the Asset Purchase Agreement on Jan. 18 with the FCC; the APA is dated Jan. 12. The remainder is due at closing.
What is WWCO going to be used for? The APA says Parthenon and Trignition, led by principal David Webster will begin rebroadcasting WRYM-AM 840 in New Britain, Conn., a Tropical station serving Spanish-language audiences in communities between Hartford and Middletown, Conn. WRYM uses W297BT at 107.3 in Hartford to benefit from “AM revitalization.”
Now, “Viva! Radio” will expand its signal to Waterbury, to the west of Middletown.
Serving as legal counsel for Connoisseur is Paige Fronabarger of Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP.
