Bill Laird Says Farewell To Wisconsin Radio
In 1956, Dorothy Laird launched a Class B AM radio station in the Wisconsin town of Waupaca. In 1967, she delved into the budding riches of FM radio by adding a Class A FM in Waupaca. The stations were handed to her son, Bill Laird, who has continued to run them and holds a CP for a new FM radio station in the town. Now, Laird is retiring, and he's agreed to sell the properties.
A Cool Deal Comes, 29 Months Later
Two years and five months after Tom Dobrez agreed to sell a Class C2 FM in Avon, Colo., and a Class C1 FM in Vail, Colo., the operator of CoolRadioStreaming.com is moving forward with a sale of his remaining facility. The buyer? The entity that grabbed those two properties from Dobrez' Cool Radio LLC in September 2017.
An Amendment To A HPRN Sale Emerges
On January 8, Monte Spearman's High Plains Radio Network agreed to sell an AM, an FM, and an FM translator to a broadcast ministry. On Feb. 12, an amendment to that agreement was filed with the Commission. It's just been posted to the FCC database and includes the original APA, which contains new details about the deal.

A New Lease On Life For Memphis’ Jazz Station
Go east of downtown Memphis, and you'll find Shelby Farms Park. Right next to the park is the transmitter for a Class C2 noncommercial serving the market with a 24/7 jazz format. It's a service provided by a university that, like several others in recent years, decided to sell its radio station. In this case, however, jazz will live on, thanks to a partnership between the university and a local institution.

Paperwork filed at the FCC on Tuesday shows its broadcast homes — a Class D AM and an accompanying FM translator — have been sold. As of February 3, the new owner has installed new programming: English-language talk shows.

‘The Voice’ Relaunches A Classic Delmarva Brand
For much of the 1980s, WKHI was a formidable Top 40 station on the Delmarva Peninsula. It disappeared in 1993 but wasn't forgotten by an operator that brought back those call letters on Jan. 30, 2019, to a Class A facility at 94.9 MHz. Branding that matched the old WKHI was used, along with a Classic Hits format. It didn't work. Now, this new WKHI is being sold.

Former broadcast ministry Edgewater Broadcasting, led by Dennis Clounch, has been winding down its operations and selling off assets for several months. The parting of an FM translator in Peru, Ill., is only the latest asset sale for the Twin Falls, Idaho-based licensee.
