Radio and Television Transactions

On June 1, RBR+TVBR first reported on the proposed sale of WTMD-FM 89.7 in Towson, Md., an eclectic Adult Alternative noncommercial operation within the Baltimore market, to Your Public Radio Corporation. On November 10, "Public Radio Music Day" across the U.S., the transaction closed.

In October 2010, EMF acquired three stations in Pennsylvania towns located near Youngstown, Ohio. It spun two of the stations to a local broadcaster that has now opted to sell the facility, and its FM translator, to another locally based owner. It's a deal that saw the involvement of CMS Station Brokerage.

Less than four years ago, Cherry Creek Radio began a new chapter when it agreed with a credit affiliate of Bain Capital to restructure itself and its balance sheet. Among the stations Cherry Creek had in its stable at the time were two AM/FM combos east of I-25 in southeast Colorado. Now, Cherry Creek is selling the stations in a deal brokered by Kalil & Co.  It's our top deal up for discussion in RBR+TVBR's TRANSACTIONS TODAY for Feb. 13, 2018.

HC2 Station Group, the rapidly growing broadcast TV station owner led by Philip Falcone, has closed on its acquisition of a Class A TV station presently serving Hispanic audiences in Ohio's capital city. It's a facility shifting channels thanks to the post-spectrum auction repack.

Travel south on Highway 89 from Prescott, Ariz., and you'll see Mt. Francis off in the distance. From here, an FM translator 93.5 MHz rebroadcasts a Family Life Broadcasting FM in Flagstaff. That's poised to change, with Spanish-language programming on the way.

There's a radio broadcaster in Texas that is celebrating 56 years of “of keeping him close by.” This Houston-based operation is growing again, five months after adding an AM/FM combo in a town known as the home of Fort Concho.

In Lee County, Fla., the Haitian American community has enjoyed Kreyol programming by way of a low-power FM station with a tiny 43-watt signal from the Edgewood neighborhood of Fort Myers. Now, "Radio Evolution Inter" is set to grow, thanks to the sale of a Class C3 FM and its accompanying FM translator to the south, in Collier County.
