‘La Campesina’ Adds Another Arizona Translator

Travel south on Highway 89 from Prescott, Ariz., and you’ll see Mt. Francis off in the distance. From here, an FM translator 93.5 MHz rebroadcasts a Family Life Broadcasting FM in Flagstaff.

That’s poised to change, with Spanish-language programming on the way.

K228DF at 93.5 MHz is being sold by Family Life Ministries to Prescott Broadcasting LLC.

It’s a sale that will see the FM Translator return to life no later than Oct. 1, or it could see its call letters deleted. That’s because it is presently dark under special temporary authority with the FCC to resolve interference issues.

The translator is a first-adjacent facility to KDKB-FM 93.3, a 100kw Class C on the famed South Mountain antenna farm in the Phoenix market.

The deal is valued at just $7,500, but it will see the shift in use of the translator from Family Life’s noncomm in Flagstaff to that of KAHM-FM 102.1, now a part of the La Campesina non-profit regional Mexican network administered by Cesar Chavez Foundation.

Prescott Broadcasting leases KAHM through an agreement with its licensee, Phoenix Radio Broadcasting LLC.

Joe Chautin III of Hardy, Carey, Chautin & Balkin served as the legal counsel representing Family Life.

Dawn M. Sciarrino of Sciarrino & Shubert, PLLC was the legal counsel for the seller.
