BlackRock’s Media Moves: First Scripps, Now Two Others

In a SC 13G/A filing with the SEC, BlackRock Inc. recently revealed that now holds 8,593,267 Class A common shares of The E.W. Scripps Co. It turns out that BlackRock now holds a significant percentage of shares in another TV company, and is trimming its stake in one of the audio content industry's biggest radio station groups.

FCC To Three FMs: Cease Broadcasts Immediately!

In an August 2017 Summary Decision from then-FCC Chief Administrative Law Judge Richard L. Sippel, authorizations for a trio of FM broadcast licenses were revoked. It ended 14 years of wrangling with the FCC over allegations of lack of candor, misrepresentation and unauthorized transfer of control, among others. Now, they've formally lost their 17-year fight for their right to broadcast.

Salem Accepts Consent Decree To Resolve Live Broadcasting Rule Query

The FCC's Enforcement Bureau revealed on Tuesday that it has been conducting an investigation into whether Salem Media Group violated the FCC's live broadcasting rule. It appears that Salem was involved in a violation of the Commission's regulations, as the company has agreed to a consent decree.

Tribune/Sinclair Merger Meltdown Lawsuit Settled, To Nexstar’s Benefit

Until Monday, a legal battle that started in August 2018 against the former Tribune Media and Sinclair Broadcast Group was still on in America's First State. Now, it has concluded, thanks to a settlement that gives Tribune's new owner -- Nexstar Media Group -- cash and another TV station. The resolution also brings Nexstar the Rio Grande Valley's CBS affiliation.
