Broadcasters Foundation Radio & TV Networking Series Returns to NYC

The Broadcasters Foundation of America is returning to New York City this June for the third installment of its Media Mixer networking series, part of an expanding effort to connect broadcast professionals across career stages while raising awareness of its charitable mission.

The event, scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, will take place at iHeartMedia’s New York studios. Running from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET, the free gathering is designed to bring together emerging talent and established television and radio executives, with a particular focus on supporting broadcasters facing personal or professional hardship.

The event will coincide with both the BFOA’s annual Giving Day and the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation’s 50th Gracie Awards Luncheon, which will be held at Cipriani 42nd Street earlier that day.

Angela Yee, host of Way Up with Angela Yee, which airs locally on iHeart’s Power 105.1, will co-host the evening alongside ABC7 Eyewitness News anchor and reporter Pedro Rivera. Long Island-based singer/songwriter Camryn Quinlan will provide the evening’s entertainment.

The Media Mixer series, which previously made stops in Los Angeles and Chicago, is part of a broader strategy by the Foundation to broaden its visibility and fundraising capacity. Another event is scheduled later in the summer for Austin, Tex.

While attendance is free, advance registration is required.

“The overwhelmingly positive response to our Media Mixers shows how much today’s media professionals value real connection,” said Broadcasters Foundation President Tim McCarthy. “In a time of rapid industry change, both junior and senior broadcasters want opportunities to exchange ideas and experiences.”

McCarthy emphasized the Foundation’s ongoing push to expand its visibility across all media markets. “It is a tragedy if a broadcaster who needs our help doesn’t apply because they don’t know about us,” he said. “We ask everyone who knows our work to share it widely within the industry.”

The Broadcasters Foundation’s financial support for broadcasters has grown substantially over the past decade. In 2007, the organization distributed approximately $400,000 in assistance. In 2024, that figure neared $2 million, reflecting heightened demand and increased donor engagement from across the broadcasting sector.
