It’s been a radio station in the capital of the Old Dominion, pitching itself as a home of “Timeless Rock N’ Roll, Pop & Soul,” for the last few years.

Now, “Boomtown Richmond” is officially getting a little more oomph.

It is officially purchasing two AMs and an FM translator that were once part of Davidson Media Group’s Spanish-language holdings across the East Coast, operated via an LMA for nearly three years.

According to an asset purchase agreement posted to the FCC’s LMS on Wednesday (1/20), Mobile Radio Partners — the entity behind Boomtown Richmond — is agreeing to acquire WVNZ-AM 1320 in Richmond and WTOX-AM 1480 in Glen Ellen, Va.

The seller is TBLC Virginia Holdings, an entity that has been led by CEO Mark Janbakhsh.

He acquired the duo, prior to the establishment of FM translator W269DC at 101.7 MHz in Richmond, as part of TBLC’s acquisition of former Davidson holdings that had been targeting Hispanic audiences.

Now, WVNZ and W269DC will be formally integrated into Boomtown Richmond’s Oldies operation, converting a LMA-to-buy opportunity presented to Mobile Radio Partners, led by Richard and Michael Mazursky.

The purchase price is $209,500, less a credit of $27,000 paid by Mobile Radio Partners under a prior expired Option to Purchase. This makes the net purchase price $182,500.

A $9,125 deposit has been made, with Fowler Media Consulting as escrow agent.

Fowler Media Consulting is also the broker, representing TBLC. He’ll get 5% of the $209,500 purchase price.

Upon closing, WVNZ, WTOX and W269DC will join WBTL-AM 1450, WULT-AM 1540, and two FM translators at 94.1 MHz and 92.9 MHz.

WVNZ has been used by Boomtown Richmond since late 2018 as a simulcast partner with WBTL.

WTOX is a simulcast partner of WULT, billed as “Ultra” and airing a Spanish-language format.
