For the last decade, Bill Christian has been a key figure in the build-out, and profit-generating sale, of low-power television stations in such markets as Lafayette, Ind.
Now, through his “Milachi Media,” Christian is signing off on the sale of a LPTV property licensed to Westmoreland, N.H. The buyer is the parent of the digital multicast NewsNet offering funded by the creator of the 5-Hour Energy beverage.
The deal comes as NewsNet is also acquiring a LPTV property in the Coachella Valley of California.
Christian has signed off on the sale of WVCC-LD 6, licensed to a small community on the Vermont border just north of Amherst, Mass., to Bridge News LLC.
That’s the licensee overseen on a day-to-day basis by CEO Vince Bodiford, which has been actively purchasing low-power TV stations with the intent of replacing a digital multicast-distributed network’s distribution with owned properties.
The shift also gives Bridge News an opportunity to profit from future ATSC 3.0 non-broadcast benefits including broadcast internet.
With Mark Denbo of Smithwick & Belendiuk serving as Christian’s legal counsel and The Law Office of Dan J. Alpert representing Bridge News, Milachi is agreeing to a $3.15 million purchase price.
A 10% escrow deposit is being held by Alpert.
Serving as the broker in this transaction is Patrick Communications.
