Between Houston and Galveston, along I-45, is the town of La Marque, Texas.
That’s the home of the Dr. Michael Augustus Cultural and Musical Arts Foundation, a licensee that is buying an FM in Alabama and, concurrently, selling an FM in Wyoming.
The Augustus Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit entity, and it has agreed to purchase WHSL-FM 107.7 in Lisman, Ala., from WHSL LLC.
The $42,000 value of the station is being considered a donation to the Foundation.
WHSL is presently dark but is licensed as a Class A serving the town of Butler, near the Mississippi border and some 40 miles from Meridian, Ms.
WHSL will be the Foundation’s lone property, as it is agreeing to sell silent KYWY-FM 95.5 in Pine Bluff, Wyo., near the Nebraska border, to Clarke County Broadcasting.
The price was not disclosed.
As RBR+TVBR reported in February 2018, KYWY — formerly KEZF — was donated to Augustus from United States CP. The maximum estimated value of KYWY was $100,000 when obtained by Augustus, which started running the station one year ago.
Dr. Augustus as of January 2018 was on the board of directors for 21st Century Broadcasting; he holds no attributable interest in the company’s lone asset, Class C WEZO-AM 1230 in Augusta, Ga.
