A new era has begun for the all-News radio station serving Los Angeles, Orange County and all of Southern California once owned by CBS Radio and today a spoken word brand under the Audacy Inc. umbrella.
At 11am Pacific on Sunday, KNX News officially began broadcasts from a new Miracle Mile studio, with L.A.’s Morning News co-anchor Mike Simpson the first person behind the mic inside Studio 1 at Audacy Los Angeles.
For listeners long-familiar with KNX’s presence on Wilshire Blvd., the move didn’t require trucks or a new lease — a change in floors in the same office building was seen. However, the change in studios concludes a 20-year run in KNX’s former home.
The relocation was an endeavour a year in the making, with a group of individuals seen working in a new newshub as Simpson was on the air.
The inauguration of KNX News’ new studio comes just days after crosstown spoken word rival KFI-AM all but shuddered its news team, a decision tied to widespread reduction-in-force initiatives across that station’s owner, iHeartMedia.
