The Audacy Inc.-owned News/Talk station serving the Crescent City has reached a fresh multi-year agreement with both the NBA and NFL franchises serving Bayou Country.

The partnership means New Orleans Saints football coverage remains on WWL-AM 870 and WWL-FM 105.3, while the New Orleans Pelicans basketball team has a new radio home.

The Pelicans are coming to the stations from iHeartMedia’s WRNO-FM, following the conclusion of a two-year contract that sees the NBA franchise leave that station for a second time. From the 2015-2016 through 2018-2019 seasons, Pelicans games were on WRNO-FM before shifting to KLRZ-FM “ESPN New Orleans” for three years.

WWL Radio has been the flagship station for the New Orleans Saints since 1995.

“We are honored to extend our partnership with the New Orleans Saints and excited to bring the New Orleans Pelicans into the WWL family,” said Dan Barron, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for Audacy/New Orleans. “This agreement reaffirms our dedication to providing fans with the best sports broadcasting in the region. We are proud to be the go-to source for Saints and Pelicans coverage and are excited to bring every thrilling moment to our listeners.”

Gayle Benson, Owner of the New Orleans Saints and Governor of the New Orleans Pelicans, added, “WWL has been a trusted voice in our community for over a century, and we are confident that this agreement will enhance the experience for our dedicated fans. With WWL’s extensive reach and experienced team, we look forward to delivering exceptional broadcasts for both the Saints and Pelicans for years to come.”

At night, WWL-AM’s 50,000-watt clear signal extends to over 38 states. It was a key source for emergency information during Hurricane Katrina in 2006.
