Anywave Helps To Fire Up An ATSC 3.0 Lighthouse

When it came time to flip the switch on a NEXTGEN TV “lighthouse” in the Harrisburg, Pa., television market, a supplier of advanced technology television broadcast transmitters headquartered in Illinois was called upon to supply the necessary broadcast equipment to get the task done.

Anywave Communication Technologies Inc., as such, played a big role in the ATSC 3.0 deployment in the market, which includes Carlisle and York.

The NEXTGEN TV service sees a low-power TV station on UHF Channel 16 serving as the market hub for ATSC 3.0-powered signals, with Nexstar Media Group-owned WHTM-27; PBS Member station WITF-TV and religious broadcaster WLYH-49 — ironically, branded as “Lighthouse TV” — participating.

Interestingly, in Harrisburg the ATSC 3.0 signal is received and rebroadcast on
digital channel 31 through an Anywave ATSC 3.0 translator in the Red Lion-York, Pa., given the wide terrain of the DMA.

According to Anywave, the translator is fully regenerative.

“Anywave has developed coverage solutions to address most any ATSC 3.0
requirement,” said Anywave General Manager David Neff.

Anywave will be at NAB 2023, scheduled from April 15-19 2023 in Las Vegas. Their booth is at the Las Vegas Convention Center’s West Hall, #W1853.
