A News/Talk radio station with a rare set of “W” call letters west of the Mississippi River and its FM sibling offering Country music to a portion of Oklahoma are being sold.
The buyer is a local partnership between Darrel Dye and Bill Coleman.
With David Oxenford of Wilkinson Barker Knauer serving as the buyer’s legal counsel, Team Radio Marketing Group of Ponca City, Okla., is signing off on the acquisition of WBBZ-AM & KQSN-FM in Ponca City from Sterling Broadcasting.
A $450,000 purchase price was agreed to in late November, with paperwork submitted Friday in the FCC LMS for regulatory approval.
Of the purchase price, $100,000 is assigned to real estate while the two broadcast licenses are each valued at $10,000. In fact, a 2014 Honda Odyssey was valued at $11,000 — more than either the AM or FM.
Broadcast equipment was valued at $179,000, with the remaining $5,000 value placed on a 1997 bumper pull trailer with a “Santa House” on it.
Sterling is led by Zoe Bowling, who serves as President.
KQSN is an affiliate of Premiere Networks’ Bobby Bones Show.
