WASHINGTON, D.C. — It took just minutes after it became clear that Anna Gomez had the necessary votes to win confirmation by the U.S. Senate of her appointment by the Biden Administration as a FCC Commissioner for the words of praise to arise from lobbying groups that will actively be working with her and her future staff.

Also chiming in with positive comments: the Chairwoman of the FCC herself.

And, the first positive words of Gomez came from pro-MVPD advocacy organization ACA Connects, led by President/CEO Grant Spellmeyer.

In a statement, Spellmeyer said his group congratulations Gomez on her confirmation as FCC Commissioner, noting, “Time and again, she has demonstrated her expertise, leadership, and sound decision making.”

Spellmeyer added that ACA Connects looks forward to working with her as the FCC seeks to close the broadband availability and adoption gaps, “and to ensure that our small and rural Member companies continue to operate in a regulatory environment that enables their enormous investment in reliable, robust broadband infrastructure to meet the needs of consumers.”

Following the distribution of ACA Connects’ statement came that of NAB President/CEO Curtis LeGeyt. With congratulations bestowed upon Gomez, LeGeyt said her “wealth of experience in telecommunications policymaking” will help the FCC address the critical issues facing radio and television broadcasters. “[The] NAB looks forward to working with Ms. Gomez and a fully seated Commission to provide the regulatory certainty, modernization and flexibility that will enable local broadcasting to thrive and enhance our service to tens of millions of American every day,” he said.

Later in the day, Jessica Rosenworcel issued a statement of congratulations of her own to Gomez.

“Anna brings with her a wealth of telecommunications experience, a substantial record of public service, and a history of working to ensure the United States stays on the cutting edge of keeping us all connected,” Rosenworcel said. “Her international expertise will be a real asset to the agency.  I look forward to working with her to advance the agency’s mission to ensure the benefits of modern communications reach everyone, everywhere and that the United States can continue to lead in the digital age.”
