For decades, the Holladay family has owned radio stations across the Deep South, including in Alabama. Now, Bob Holladay has engineered a transaction that, pending FCC approval, will see four FM radio stations and their two accompanying broadcast towers end up in the hands of the company that owns Nashville’s “Hippie Radio.”
It’s a company controlled by Anthony Didier — better known by his professional name, Tony Richards.
Kensington Digital Media is agreeing to purchase the following properties from Holladay’s Alabama Media LLC:
- Classic Hits WESP-FM 102.5 in Dothan, Ala.
- Rock WJRL-FM 100.5 in Slocomb, Ala.
- R&B WBBK-FM 93.1 in Blakely, Ala.
- Country WECB-FM 105.3 in Headland, Ala.
The transaction also includes the tower for WBBK-FM owned by Alabama Media, and the tower for for the three other stations from Holladay Investments LLC.
A $1,250,000 purchase price has been agreed upon.
A $25,000 earnest money deposit has been placed in escrow. At closing, a cash downpayment price of $225,000 will be made, with the remaining $1 million to be honored by a Promissory Note.
Serving as Holladay’s broker in this transaction is Beth Griffin of Griffin Media Brokers.
Kensington Digital Media is led on a day-to-day basis by COO Woody Zimmerman.
The Dothan stations WJRL, WBBK and what is today WECB were formerly owned by Styles Broadcasting, under Tom and Kim DiBacco, and later under Magic Broadcasting Company by Don McCoy. Magic sold the properties in February 2011.
