It is a North Texas non-secular audio brand known for “Encouraging Music … Words of Hope.” It enjoys a booming 100kw Class C signal audible from Denton to Waco, and the entire Metroplex of Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving and everywhere in-between.
Yet, that’s not enough for First Dallas Media, as it has agreed to purchase an FM translator in Big D from Salem Media.
K273BJ at 102.5 MHz in Dallas, which can be heard downtown, in Highland Park and east to Mesquite, Tex., is being spun to the parent of KCBI-FM.
The seller? It is Inspiration Media Of Texas LLC, an entity within Salem Media.
As such, the FM translator’s use as a rebroadcast facility for conservative Talk KSKY-AM “The Answer” is now on a timer.
With Wiley Law attorney Kathleen Kirby serving as the seller’s legal counsel and Hardy Carey Chautin & Balkin counsel Joe Chautin III representing the buyer, paperwork has been submitted for FCC approval that shows First Dallas Media agreeing to pay $300,000 for the mini-FM, which covers only a small portion of the vast Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
A 10% deposit is being held in escrow by Whitley Broadcast Media.
That would be in reference to Bill Whitley, the longtime media broker.
Ahead of an expected closing, KCBI will lease the FM translator as a rebroadcast partner at a cost of $2,360 per month until the transaction closes.
The plan likely involves KCBI HD2’s talk and teaching channel, giving it a primary FM signal in the market.
