With the U.S. Senate still yet to take up consideration of the House-passed AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, the owner of radio stations across Canada that recently bought a globally available audio streaming app has reached an OEM deal with Ford Motor Co. — placing it in select models of Ford and Lincoln vehicles.
This sees Stingray-owned TuneIn end up in 2025 and newer Ford Explorer and Ford Expedition vehicles, the Lincoln Aviator and Lincoln Navigator models, and the 2024 and newer Lincoln Nautilus models sold in the U.S. and Canada.
For consumers, access to radio stations owned by companies including Cumulus Media, Beasley Media Group, Hubbard Radio, iHeartMedia and Audacy can be had via TuneIn, with Townsquare Media stations a notable void.
In addition to live streaming of AM/FM radio stations from nations around the world, the TuneIn catalog adds more than 100 ad-free curated music channels updated weekly, more than 100,000 local and international radio stations, and 4 million podcasts.
Stingray Music USA President Jim Riley said, “We worked hand in hand with the Ford team over many months to create a tailor-made in-dash audio experience powered by Stingray. Whether it’s discovering new music, staying informed on breaking news and travel updates, or diving into captivating podcasts like Ford CEO Jim Farley’s Drive, these apps ensure that every journey is informative and entertaining—and increasingly tailored to the driver’s preferences.”
