Broadcast technology firm Typical Media Group has brought to market a software broadcast audio processor designed around a new adaptive processing architecture for FM, HD Radio, AM, DAB+ and streaming applications.
Spectra combines a wideband AGC, five-band compression, six-band limiting, dynamic EQ, adaptive processing stages, Intelligent Dynamics, a dedicated bass path and the Edge clipper.
The adaptive architecture is designed to respond to the incoming program material and adjust how the processing stages work together, rather than simply applying the same processing regardless of what’s going through the processor. “This helps Spectra maintain a consistent, competitive broadcast sound across everything from heavily produced music to quieter or more dynamically varied material,” the company shares. “We’ve spent significant time comparing and tuning Spectra against established broadcast processors, and we’re now at the point where we’re comfortable putting it in front of the broader broadcast community.”
Spectra is available as standalone Windows software and as a VST plug-in. The standalone version can utilize up to 32 processing cores under one license, system dependent.
