Mobile App Helps Radio Stations Build Local Image Libraries

Every day, radio station employees drive past schools, businesses, government buildings, community events, breaking news scenes, and local landmarks that eventually become stories on their websites. Unfortunately, many of those photos never make it online because getting them from a phone to the website requires too many steps.

CaptureRelay, a new mobile app from Skyrocket Radio, was created to eliminate that workflow.

Available now for iPhone and Android, CaptureRelay allows approved staff members to capture or select a photo, give it a descriptive title, and send it directly into the station’s WordPress Media Library in seconds.

“We’ve encouraged stations for years to build a library of original local photography because those images become some of the most valuable assets on a website,” said Jim Sherwood, founder of Skyrocket Radio. “The problem was never taking the pictures. The problem was getting them onto the website quickly enough that people would actually do it.”

CaptureRelay connects directly to a station’s WordPress website. Each mobile device must be approved by a website administrator before it can upload images, allowing stations to control exactly who can contribute. Photos are optimized for the website automatically and delivered directly into the Media Library, ready to be used in stories, galleries, contests, or other content.

CaptureRelay is available now as a one-time purchase for iPhone and Android. The companion WordPress plugin is provided free and supports secure administrator approval, automatic updates, and direct delivery into the website’s Media Library.
