For some in broadcast media, professional voice cloning powered by advanced AI technology is of keen interest. For the President of Oink Ink, it is a new business endeavor he hopes radio broadcasting companies will consider for their stations.
Dan Price has officially commenced operations at BionicVO, with a free two-month trial option available alongside two tiered payment options and a customized enterprise offering.
How does BionicVO work? It takes “four simple steps” to clone a voice on the company’s platform. First, one selects an actor. Then, a script is fed to the AI. An “audition” then comes, with selected actors reading the script. Once the AI actor is selected, production begins.
A choice of 56 AI voices, male and female, are available from the BionicVO library.
Price’s experience as co-founder of Price Brothers, a creative digital audio company which develops content for new audio platforms, helped bring BionicVO to life.
What sets BionicVO apart, Price believes, is that it uses licensed professional voices; every actor paid a royalty each time their voice is used. As such, there is no synthetic voice bank, and no scraped likenesses.
“AI voices aren’t bad because the technology is bad,” he says. “They’re bad because no one is directing the performance. We built BionicVO to master these tools, not just use them.”
