When the clock struck Midnight on Saturday, May 23, Red Apple Audio Networks officially launched its Worldwide News Network, under the direction of newly hired VP of News Lee Harris, Red Apple Media President Chad Lopez and Red Apple Media owner John Catsimatidis.
Getting the new audio offering, which debuted as CBS News Radio concluded its run as a news and information source, up and running very much involved a platform developed by Radio.Cloud.
“Given our very aggressive deployment timeline, NewsCloud was the best choice for launching the Worldwide News Network,” said Harris, who also oversees the news for WABC Radio in New York. “It has been super customized for our operation and will allow us to provide a level of service to affiliates that no other network has ever been able to provide. Our new staff was able to master NewsCloud very quickly.”
The NewsCloud uses technology that enables a radio station to benefit from more traditional live newscast distribution, by way of the NewsCloud Player. It connects different wires and sources using the supplemental NewsCloud Editorial interface.
“For us, this is an exciting milestone,” said Radio.Cloud CEO and Founder Christian Brenner. “While Radio.Cloud has supported hundreds of affiliates across the United States with cloud-native radio automation for many years, this marks the North American debut of NewsCloud, our newsroom platform. It gives broadcasters the ability to produce, localize, manage, and distribute news content faster and more efficiently.”
Said Lopez, “We needed a next generation newsroom system to run the Worldwide News Network from wherever news is happening. NewsCloud’s cloud-based architecture allowed us to deploy our network in record time and will enable us to provide a level of customization for affiliates that no other network has even been able to deliver.”
