Lars Larson Lengthens Compass Distribution Deal

PORTLAND, ORE. — When it comes to talk radio personalities, there’s perhaps no bigger singular host in the Pacific Northwest today than Lars Larson. That said, Larson in 2023 will be celebrating 20 years of national syndication.

That relationship has just been extended, thanks to a new multi-year agreement.

The Lars Larson Show, available outside of the Pacific Northwest via Compass Media Networks, will continue to be distributed via the company founded by CEO Peter Kosann.

This show was launched in September 2003 and can be heard on over 150 affiliates nationwide, including stations ranging from KINS-FM in Eureka-Arcata, Calif., and the Mississippi Super Talk Network to WILS-AM in Lansing, Mich., WHCU-AM in Ithaca, N.Y., and KTSA in San Antonio.

“It has been the highlight of my 48 years in radio to work hand-in-hand with Peter Kosann and Compass Media Networks,” Larson said. “I’m humbled that he has offered me five more years of doing a show that I look forward to every day.”

The nationally syndicated Lars Larson Show is largely heard in nighttime slots on stations in the Eastern U.S. This is in addition to the Noon-3pm Pacific program distributed by the Radio Northwest Network in Oregon and Washington, including KVI-AM in Seattle.

Larson’s home station is Alpha Media’s KXL-FM in Portland, Ore., presently ranked No. 1 overall according to Nielsen Audio.

His program joined Compass Media Networks in 2009, the company’s first year of operation.

Kosann said, “There will always be a special place in my heart for Lars and his wonderful family. Lars made the courageous decision to join our company in the beginning, and I am forever grateful for his friendship and faith in us. We hope to syndicate Lars until the end of time.”

Larson got his start in radio at age 16 spinning records and reading news, sports and weather at the edge of a cow pasture in Tillamook, Oregon at KTIL.
