DALLAS — The WNBA franchise representing North Texas has scored a “landmark broadcast rights agreement” with a broadcast television station owned by TEGNA — a deal that brings “the possibility of select games” airing on the ABC affiliate serving the Dallas-Fort Worth market.
Unaffiliated KFAA-29, a sibling to WFAA-8 in Dallas, is now the exclusive local television partner of the Dallas Wings.
This means that in 2025, all Wings games not designated for national television will be available on KFAA. Depending on WFAA’s broadcast obligations, Wings games could air on that station.
The agreement also means KFAA and TEGNA will lead local and regional advertising and sponsorship sales for all local Wings games.
“We are thrilled to announce this groundbreaking broadcast partnership with KFAA,” said Dallas Wings CEO and Managing Partner Greg Bibb. “Wings games will now be available via local broadcast to more people than ever before through the tremendous reach of KFAA. We are appreciative of the investment TEGNA is making in the Wings and women’s sports and we look forward to partnering with them to deliver world class live sports programming to fans across North Texas.”
WFAA & KFAA President/GM Carolyn Mungo commented, “The Dallas Wings are the perfect next addition to our growing roster of sports broadcasts on KFAA, which has become the local destination for basketball fans, and we couldn’t be more excited to showcase the Wings and their tenth anniversary season.”
KFAA and WFAA are also home to the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, which announced a multi-year agreement with TEGNA in fall 2024. Additionally, KFAA is the television home of the NBA G League’s Texas Legends.
For the Wings, the TEGNA deal comes as efforts to relocate the team to downtown Dallas and a renovated Dallas Memorial Auditorium are ongoing. Additionally, the Wings’ C-Suite has recently seen the arrival of Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Curt Miller as the team has brought in Head Coach Chris Koclanes. The Wings also won the Draft Lottery in November and will have the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2025 WNBA Draft, positioning the team for future growth.
KFAA is carried on all local MVPDs and on DirecTV and Dish.
