Frank Potenza really was Jimmy Kimmel’s uncle and appeared on Kimmel’s late night ABC show for years in a security guard uniform. He was overqualified for that job, since he was a retired New York City cop. He has died at age 77.
“His kindness and humor will be missed by everyone he touched,” said a statement from “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The show is on summer break and will resume production September 6th.
Kimmel himself sent a tweet to followers: “Thank you for your kind words about a very kind may, my Uncle Frank.”
