With time ticking on TEGNA‘s proposed privatization effort led by Standard General and a plea to the full Commission to consider its applications, erasing a Hearing Designation Order upheld on Thursday by the FCC’s Administrative Law Judge, the Chief of the Media Bureau’s Video Division has given TEGNA at least one legislative win.

A Notice of Proposed Rulemaking was issued in response to a Petition for Rulemaking filed by WVEC Television LLC. That’s the licensee of TEGNA-owned WVEC-10 in Hampton, Va., serving the Norfolk DMA.
TEGNA requested the substitution of UHF channel 35 for VHF channel 11 in the Table of TV
Allotments.
No other comments aside from those from TEGNA were received.
And, the proposed change would cause no loss in service to viewers. As such, Barbara Kriesman gave her blessing to TEGNA to make the digital channel change, improving WVEC’s signal coverage.
