Thanks to The E.W. Scripps Co., the first-ever nationally televised pre-season contests for the WNBA will be coming to all stations aligned with its ION network.
It’s a double-header, and will see the WNBA Friday Night Spotlight on ION return on May 2 with a pair of exhibition match-ups.
At 7pm Eastern, the Dallas Wings will face the Las Vegas Aces from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., while a second game at 9pm Eastern will see the Chicago Sky play the Brazilian National Team at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
ION’s coverage will begin at 6pm Eastern with a studio show hosted by Larry Smith and analysts Autumn Johnson and Meghan McKeown.
“ION is a proud home to the WNBA, and we couldn’t be happier to bring the entire country the league’s first two nationally televised preseason games in its history,” said Scripps Sports President Brian Lawlor. “These two unique and star-studded preseason matchups will help fans and viewers get excited about the upcoming season.”
The WNBA’s regular season starts on May 16.
