WHYY state contributions down

Reports of state contributions to noncommercial WHYY-TV 12 in Wilmington DE were inadvertently overstated – in actuality, current funding for the station coming from the state of Delaware amounts to $100K, and Pennsylvania’s contribution is expected to be less than $150K, according to WHYY Executive Director, Communications and Brand Management Art Ellis. That is significantly below figures reported in RBR-TVBR and elsewhere in earlier reports.

Ellis says the other numbers — $500K and $1.1M respectively, were from FY 2009 – the new figures refer to the fiscal year now in progress.

The weeknight Delaware news program “Delaware Tonight” has been canceled, said Ellis, but he pointed out that a new weekly news magazine called “First” has been launched – “covering Delaware issues in depth.”
