The Texas Association of Broadcasters’ annual TAB Show is this week, and Wheatstone will be demonstrating its new VMX virtual mixing platform at the event.
VMX is server-based and web browser accessible for mixing in any environment on a variety of devices. It can be installed on an existing server or a dedicated appliance and offers a selection of mixer tiles, including basic utility mixers, a simple virtual mixing interface and complete virtual broadcast consoles for the television newsroom or the radio on-air studio.
For example, the LXE-V tile is a full virtual broadcast console similar to Wheatstone’s LXE physical console with the same programmability and mix capability but in a virtual format ideal for access on a recessed touchscreen in the main studio.
All virtual consoles are accessible through a web browser for quickly adding to newsrooms, control rooms, and voicetrack booths, or for creating remote mixing instances on demand — complete with backup mirroring synchronized in real-time for instantaneous failover in the event of a failure.
VMX is AES67 compliant with easy-to-install setup wizard and is scalable from large enterprise systems to the VMX Nano priced and scaled for remote or emergency broadcast applications.
VMX is part of Wheatstone’s Layers software-based broadcast suite for virtualizing studio functions as an extension of the WheatNet IP audio network.
Wheatstone will be demonstrating the VMX total virtual mixing experience during the TAB Show, booth 101, along with its line of audio processors, Audioarts consoles, and WheatNet IP audio network of consoles, talent stations and intelligent I/O access units.
