A new exclusive partnership is in place that will make Westwood One, the national radio arm of publicly traded Cumulus Media, the lone syndicator and distributor of “The Jim Rome Show,” one of the nation’s leading sports talk-focused radio show.
This will see a big change to the time period offered to stations for the three-hour program.
Starting January 6, 2025, “The Jim Rome Show” will move from its current Noon-3pm Eastern slot to 3pm-6pm Eastern, broadcasting live each weekday.
Westwood One President Collin Jones commented, “Jim Rome is a natural addition to Westwood One’s powerful portfolio of sports programming. His unique voice, unparalleled sports insight, and dynamic style have cultivated a dedicated audience that we look forward to welcoming. Additionally, this partnership marks an exciting chapter for Westwood One, as we continue to deliver top-tier content for our audiences and our advertising partners.”
Rome added that he is “thrilled to be part of the premium content that defines Westwood One; a preeminent industry leader when it comes to providing live sports coverage to the most passionate audiences. This new time slot is an incredible opportunity to connect with new listeners and broaden our audience and will allow for more access to athletes and titans in the sports world.”
Rome began his professional career in Santa Barbara, Calif., after graduating from UC-Santa Barbara, and first rose to prominence in 1990 at the former “XTRA Sports 690” in Southern California, where he became an iconic sports talk host across the next decade. In 1996, the show went national via Premiere Radio Networks. With the move to Westwood One, Rome’s show exits the Infinity Sports Network operated under Audacy Inc.; it was formerly CBS Sports Radio.
In related news, Radio Ink reports that Audacy has secured The Rich Eisen Show to anchor its Infinity Sports Network. Eisen’s program, which blends football expertise with humor, pop culture, and high-profile interviews, will take over the slot previously held by The Jim Rome Show.
Importantly, the Infinity Sports Network will continue to carry Rome as well.
