Weekend ‘Noticias’ Added In The Alamo City

NBCUniversal’s Telemundo Station Group in recent years has made a significant investment in the local news operation of its O&Os across the country—an integral part of its plan to dethrone Hispanic media rival Unvision in both ratings and revenue.

That effort continues on Saturday (June 10), when Telemundo’s San Antonio affiliate launches four new half-hour weekend newscasts.

New weekend editions of “Noticias 60 Telemundo” will air on Saturday at 5pm and 10pm and on Sunday at 4:30pm and 10pm on KVDA-60.

The new newscasts put Jairo Lozano in the role as lead weekend news anchor. He joined KVDA in 2015 as a reporter. Prior to that, he was a video journalist for KTLM-40, a Telemundo station in the Rio Grande Valley.

“Our local news expansion is a testament to the commitment we have to our viewers to better inform them by delivering best-in-class journalism when they want it and across all platforms,” said KVDA President/GM José Suárez. “Our local audiences will be able to stay even more connected to the communities we all call home.”

KVDA recently introduced a new 22,000 square foot state-of-the-art broadcast center that features the latest newsroom technologies and various energy efficient features.
