One of the Tidewater Region’s biggest station groups has recruited a Mobile market veteran to lead its FMs and help produce four marquee events in the Norfolk area.

Angel Brown, most recently VP/GM of Cumulus Media’s station in the Mobile-Pensacola, Ala.-Fla., market, is already settled in to her new role as Market President for iHeartRadio‘s Norfolk cluster.

In her new role, she will oversee Rhythmic AC WMOV-FM “Movin 107.7,” Urban WOWI-FM 102.9 “103 JAMZ,” CHR/Pop WNOW-FM “Now 105,” and CHR/Rhythmic WHBT-FM “92.1 The Beat.”

Brown will also oversee iHeartMedia Norfolk events it produces, including the annual MEAC Basketball Championship, East Coast Surfing Championship, Not So Silent Night and 7 Cities Summer Fest.

“We are thrilled to have Angel joining our Norfolk group of station brands,” said Dave Carwile, President of iHeartMedia’s Virginia/Carolina Region. “She combines a proven track record of sales leadership with an understanding of how to integrate client needs with our multimedia platforms. Angel will provide a great complement to our outstanding sales and programming leadership in the market.”

Brown leaves Mobile after three years as VP/Market Manager. From October 2012 through June 2014, she served as VP/Sales.

“I am elated to join the iHeartMedia family in Norfolk,” said Brown. “The market and the company have had tremendous success over the years and are attributed to the company’s culture and its people. I look forward to working alongside the talented iHeartMedia Norfolk team and I look for forward to my future with the industry leader.”

Brown began her career in April 2002 at Raycom Media’s WALB-10 in Albany, Ga., an NBC affiliate, as an AE. In 2005, she was named Sales Rep of the Year ahead of increasing station revenue from $46,000 to $1.2 million in 5 years.

From 2009-2012, Brown served as VP/Sales for Cumulus’ Albany, Ga., station group, a job that saw her transition from the TV industry.
