Week 47: FOX has solid week w/ 'So You Think You Can Dance'

Ranking No. 1 on five of seven nights last week, FOX scored its fifth consecutive weekly victory thanks to two scorching nights of HELL’S KITCHEN and MASTERCHEF, the sensational season 8 finale of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and NFL PRESEASON FOOTBALL.  FOX ended the week at No. 1 among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens, and remains only one tenth behind first place this summer.


Key weekly highlights include:

FOX topped Monday across all major demos and drew its highest rated Monday night with summer programming in over three years among Adults 18-49 last week.  HELL’S KITCHEN hit its season high (2.8/9) in the core adult demo — up +12% from the previous week — and was the No. 1 program of the night among Adults 18-49, followed by MASTERCHEF (2.3/6).

Tuesday also brought victory to FOX and drew the network’s most-watched Tuesday in Total Viewers so far this summer with entertainment programming.  HELL’S KITCHEN (2.8/9) grew +4% week over week, while MASTERCHEF (2.5/7) hit its highest number of Total Viewers ever (6.1 Mil).

FOX won Wednesday and Thursday night with the two-part season 8 finale of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

On Wednesday night, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (1.9/6) gained +6% week over week and won the night outright.

Thursday’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE results finale posted a 2.0/6, up +18% from the previous week.

Friday’s NFL PRESEASON FOOTBALL game (Bucs vs. Chiefs) led FOX to another nightly win among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

This was FOX’s highest rated Monday night with summer programming in over three years in Adults 18-49 (since 6/16/08).
HELL’S KITCHEN and MASTERCHEF were the #1 and #2 programs of the night in Adults 18-49 (tie for MASTERCHEF).
At 8p HELL’S KITCHEN posted a season-high 2.8/9 among Adults 18-49, up +12% from the previous week (2.5/8).

HELL’S KITCHEN posted its highest Total Viewers so far this summer and gained +18% from the previous week (6.6 vs. 5.6 Mil.).

At 9p MASTERCHEF posted a 2.3/6 in Adults 18-49, the same as the previous week.  MASTERCHEF was also flat week to week in Total Viewers (5.5 Mil.)

HELL’S KITCHEN at 8p posted a 2.8/9 among Adults 18-49, +4% from the previous week.  HELL’S KITCHEN won its 8p hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Adults 25-54 and significantly outperformed ABC’s Wipeout in head to head competition by +40% in Adults 18-49 (2.8/9 vs. 2.0/6).

The Tuesday edition of HELL’S KITCHEN has posted week-to-week gains among A18-49, A18-34 and Total Viewers with each telecast since its premiere.

At 9p MASTERCHEF delivered a 2.5/7 among Adults 18-49, same as the previous week. 

MASTERCHEF posted its highest Total Viewers ever.  MASTERCHEF also tied its highest Adults 18-49 and delivered its highest Adults 18-34 this summer.

In the 9p hour MASTERCHEF ranked #2 among Adults 18-49 and #1 in Adults 18-34.
