NEW YORK — The longtime NBCUniversal executive chosen to serve as CEO of spinoff operation Versant has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Golden Mic Award from the Broadcasters Foundation of America.
He’ll receive the honor at a black-tie event scheduled for March 9, 2026, at the Plaza Hotel, just off Central Park in Manhattan.
Mark Lazarus, the former NBCUniversal Media Group Chairman, will be feted at the biggest fundraising event of the calendar year for the BFOA, which assists radio and television professionals in need of financial assistance due to critical illness or tragedy.
Lazarus commented, “Broadcasting has always been about connecting people, and the Foundation’s work reminds us of the profound responsibility and privilege we have to support one another, especially in times of need.”
Today, Lazarus oversees the forthcoming publicly traded company comprised of cable television networks including USA Network, CNBC, MS NOW, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel. Versant is also the parent of such digital platforms as Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, and Sports Engine.
BFOA Chair Scott Herman calls Lazarus “a trailblazer in broadcasting” and “a highly respected television executive known for his leadership and ability to carve out innovative paths to success, including forming strong bonds with partners.”
The BFOA Golden Mic Award is presented annually to an individual for their excellence in and commitment to broadcasting, and their ongoing service to the community at large.
