Pass the pierogis and Zywiec! Feel free to add some salsa and a michelada, too.

That’s because Univision Radio has just sold a Class A on the north side of Chicago to the Polish National Alliance. The facility is presently a simulcast partner to another Class A in Chicagoland, and that facility is set for a move that brings it closer to The Loop.

For $5.5 million, Univision is selling WVIV-FM 103.1 in Highland Park, Ill., to the PNA’s LLC that operates media properties, Alliance Radio.

A $265,000 deposit has been made by the buyer to Univision. The remainder is due at closing.

Jorgenson Broadcast Brokerage is the exclusive broker in this transaction, representing PNA.

Tied to the sale is a Construction Permit that sees Univision shift its WVIX-FM 93.5 in Lemont, Ill., from a 6kw facility across from Oak Prairie Junior High School, in the far southwest suburbs, to a tower adjacent to Oakbrook Center.

The move gives WVIX a much-improved signal over Chicago’s Spanish-speaking communities, ensuring the continuation of the station’s Spanish Contemporary  “Latino Mix” programming.

In other TRANSACTIONS TODAY:

  • A Class C AM with 1kw from 1 tower in Bowman, N. Dakota, is being sold from Tri-State Communications to Angela Headley, Karen Paulson and Haley Jo Sabe. The purchase price is $97,000, payable in cash. The station is KPOK-AM 1340.
