LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. — On February 28, 2023, television stations located in New Jersey and New York were required to file applications for license renewal for terms expiring on June 1.
Two stations failed to do so. As such, they will each lose their license — provided no renewal application is received by Midnight on the date of expiration.
The first licensee is K Licensee Inc., of Flushing, Queens. That’s the owner of W26DC-D, licensed and silent for the Nassau County “Five Towns” community of Roslyn.
At present, there is no signal on Digital Channel 8 available to viewers at this time.
A pre-cancellation warning letter was sent to the licensee on March 13. And, according to the FCC database, its legal counsel is now-retired Foster Garvey attorney Erwin G. Krasnow.
The other licensee is New York Spectrum Holding Co. LLC, owner of WYXN-LD in New York. WYXN broadcasts on Channel 26 and its legal counsel is Kathleen Victory of Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth.
WYXN uses a broadcast tower in Long Island City, N.Y., a residential and commercial center of Queens just east of Midtown Manhattan. Its broadcast signal is intended to reach much of Bergen County, N.J., upper Manhattan and the Bronx, and all of Brooklyn and Queens.
