A morning news anchor for an ABC affiliate owned by Gray Television has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Results Broadcasting Education Grant.

The $3,000 debt assistance reward is available to individuals currently employed in Wisconsin broadcasting or related media.

Receiving the tuition relief is Aisha Morales. She joined the station in 2016 as a weekend anchor after graduating from the Walker Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz., in 2011. After leaving ASU, she worked at KYMA-11 in Yuma, Ariz., and in Colorado Springs at KXRM “FOX21” before ending up at WBAY-2 in Green Bay-Appleton-Oshkosh, Wisc.

“Just months into her tenure at WBAY, Aisha has already built community relationships where it was not uncommon for her to pitch multiple story ideas each day,” WBAY-2 VP/GM Steve Lavin told the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, which shared the news on Monday (5/20). “I quickly recognized Aisha has a unique journalistic talent.”

Morales commented, “I am proud and so grateful to work for a station that has given me so many opportunities to grow.”

Bruce and Don Grassman of Results Broadcasting established the grant, which was increased to $3,000 this year thanks to an additional contribution from Bruce Grassman.

The grant is being replicated by other state broadcast associations.

Previous recipients of the grant include:
  • Rachel Frye, WTMJ-AM, Milwaukee
  • Morgan Schillinger, WBAY-TV, Green Bay
  • Allison Eggers, WDJT-TV, Milwaukee
  • Erin Bagatta, WYMS-FM, Milwaukee

“Results Broadcasting is so proud of the dedicated men and women in the Wisconsin over the air radio and TV industry working in all phases of the business,” Bruce Grassman said. “It is an opportunity to help people with some of their student debt and to let them know they are part of the greatest state of broadcasters…Wisconsin. Results Broadcasting is proud to continue this award for many years to come.”

The recipient is chosen by a sub-committee of the WBA Foundation Board.

Applications for the next grant will be accepted starting Jan. 1, 2025 and the deadline will be Feb. 28, 2025. Find more details on the WBA Foundation website.
