The demise of ESPN Deportes Radio has led several stations to add programming from TUDN Radio, the rebranded and retooled service formerly known as Univision Deportes Radio.
Among the stations signing on are two owned by Lotus Communications, serving L.A.
TUDN Radio, which incorporates programming from Univision Communications and Mexico’s Televisa, signed new affiliation agreements with 10 stations in the wake of ESPN Deportes Radio’s end and shift of select programs to podcast delivery only.
The group of new affiliates includes Lotus’ Sports Talk KWKW-AM 1330 in Los Angeles, which has aired Spanish-language sports programming in Los Angeles since 2004 and later added ESPN Deportes Radio programming. KTMZ-AM in Pomona, Calif., will remain a 24/7 simulcast partner.
Spill-over programming will air on KFWB-AM 980, which Lotus also owns and is today “La Mera Mera,” airing ranchera-style regional Mexican programming.
Another Lotus-owned station will also take on TUDN Radio programming, located in Bakersfield.
Meanwhile, Entercom is putting TUDN Radio programming on its WJFK-AM 1580 in Washington, D.C., and on the HD2 signal tied to its Latin Contemporary WLZL-FM 107.9.
Other new stations, listed below, are in Philadelphia; suburban Chicago; San Diego-Tijuana; and the Oxnard-Ventura region of Central California.
TUDN Radio includes coverage of UEFA Champions League, Liga MX, Major League Soccer, UEFA Euro 2020 and the U.S. men’s and women’s national soccer teams.
