On Friday, hundreds of thousands of radio listeners across the South were stunned by the news that “The ACE & TJ Show” has come to its end, and a new incarnation is already in the works.
Indeed, “TJ & Riggins,” the successor show, was scheduled to make its debut across its collection of affiliate radio stations on Monday. However, its biggest market — Charlotte — won’t be home for the program … at least for now.
Beasley Media Group‘s Classic Adult Contemporary WKQC “K104.7” in Charlotte was offering music-intensive programming as RBR+TVBR reached its 5pm Eastern news deadline, instead of “TJ & Riggins.”
This leaves the program open to another radio home in the Queen City.
Just before 2pm Eastern on Monday (9/23), TJ posted a message to its Instagram page.
“I know you are all looking for more information about the changes we have made with our show, but we cannot give any further details,” the host said. He thanked “Radio Family” members for their years of support, adding, “We have been forced to make big changes quickly and we know we are still going to bring you a quality show. We just ask that you give us a chance.”
But, he added, “One of our affiliate stations has decided not to give us that chance.”
That would be K104.7, the “flagship” station, in TJ’s view.
For those in Charlotte, TJ directed listeners to streaming or downloading the entire show.
K104.7’s other hosts are Bob & Sheri in morning drive, and Jack Daniel.
