A jump in the factory activity index of the Institute for Supply Management was enough to send Wall Street traders racing out of the starting gate as a new year of stock trading began. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 180 points, or 1.5%, to 12,397. Broadcasting stocks ran with the other horses.
The RBR Radio Index was up 11.279, or 3.7%, to 317.566.
The TVBR Television Index was up 4.950, or 2.1%, to 241.569.
