He had been associated with a Mayfield, Ky., AM radio station since 1976 and orchestrated its “revitalization” by adding an FM translator to the mix. On July 27, 2025, he passed away at the age of 72. In November, the future of his radio assets became a bit clearer.
Now, the radio properties owned by the late Jim Moore are heading to a new owner.
Jim Moore‘s WYMC-AM 1430 and W230BN at 93.9 MHz in Mayfield, serving a community due south of Paducah, are being transferred from JDM Communications — now under the control of estate executrix Lilith Moore — to PK Communications.
That’s a 50/50 partnership between locally based Douglas Keith Roach and Philip Chapman, and his Fulcrum Investment Group.
An $86,000 purchase price has been agreed to.
Handling the FCC paperwork is Dawn Sciarrino of Sciarrino & Shubert PLLC in Brentwood, Tenn.
“Some of Jim’s greatest passions were the radio business and Mayfield/Graves County” of Kentucky, Moore’s obituary reads. Moore began working in radio during high school at WNGO-AM 1320 in Mayfield. He later became the first person hired at WYMC before it signed on the air in 1976, buying the property in 1991.
By then, Moore had become known as one of the most recognized voices in Mayfield, giving back to the community as much as possible.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna Moore Swatzell. He is survived by his wife, his daughter, one brother, Richard Moore, and two aunts, Beverly Moore (Donnie) Roberts and Mary Waggoner Kennedy.
