‘The Beat of Fort Collins’ Heading to New Owners

Aaron Ishmael and Karl Lieber are jumping for joy: They’ve just made a deal to acquire an AM with an all-important FM translator serving an area of Northeastern Colorado as “Jump 104.5.”

This sees the two teaming up under licensee name Mid-Century Radio LLC to purchase an audio brand with the tagline “The Beat of Fort Collins.”

For $50,000, Ishmael and Lieber are getting Class B KJMP-AM 870 in Pierce, Colo., which uses 3 towers to put a directional, two-pattern signal with 1.2kw during daylight hours and 320 watts at night over Fort Collins, Loveland and Laporte, Colo., with limited coverage of Greeley, Estes Park and Longmont.

K283CN in Fort Collins is the FM signal that is associated with KJMP, and that facility can mainly be heard only in that city and neighboring Laporte.

Mid-Century is led by Ed Flanagan, and a $500 deposit has been sent to his group, Brahmin Broadcasting Corp. of Bedford, N.H.

Ishmael has also teamed in prior deals with Ricki Lee on behalf of their Loud Media, which previously operated KYAP-FM in nearby Nunn, Colo. Thus, Ishmael is returning to Fort Collins, as Loud was leasing the facility from Flanagan prior to his decision to sell KYAP to La Guapa Broadcasting Ideas in July 2024.
