A Class A FM serving the upper half of New York’s Capital District is changing hands, with Briton Ricki Lee signing off on a deal that will put the facility in the control of Todd Nixon, pending regulatory approval.

WLGR-FM, branded as “93.5 Lake FM” and serving towns including Glens Falls, Warrensburg and popular holiday village Lake George, is being sold by Loud Media to Nixon’s Sticks Media.

A $295,000 purchase price has been agreed to, and at closing $30,000 in cash will be handed to Lee. The remaining $265,000 will be represented by a Promissory Note bearing 5% annual interest. It will be fully amortized over a three-year term with a three-year balloon, with payments of principal and interest in the sum of $4,000 starting 30 days after closing with no prepayment penalty.

Nixon is based in the Kansas City suburb of Parkville, Mo., and is a veteran radio industry consultant. His Sticks Media previously agreed to purchase Country KTNK-AM and K279CY in Santa Maria-Lompoc, Calif. He’s also associated with Steel City Media-owned KBEQ “Q104” in Kansas City. At Q104, Nixon is the Program Director and the morning co-host. He’s been associated with the Country station since 2017.

“I am so thrilled to announce our latest venture with the acquisition of WLGR 93.5 Lake FM,” Nixon said on his Facebook page.

In a press release, he added, “I’m excited to grow our footprint across the country with the power of radio to connect and inspire. Radio continues to be an uniquely powerful medium that brings communities together, and we are committed to delivering exceptional programming that resonates deeply with our listeners in the lower Adirondack region.”

He also said he was “deeply grateful” to Lee and his team at Loud Media “for building an incredible audience and their commitment to local radio.”

Closing is expected to occur within the first quarter of 2025.
