TEGNA’s CBS affiliate serving Houston is welcoming a new News Director. It’s a woman with a 30-year career in local news who previously spent 13 years in a similar role at WJXT-4, the unaffiliated news-focused TV station serving Jacksonville owned by Graham Media Group.
Taking the post at KHOU-11 is Kathryn Bonfield.
Career highlights include similiar roles at WCBD-TV in Charleston, S.C., and at WFLA-TV in Tampa-St. Petersburg.
“Kathryn’s leadership and commitment to high standards of local journalism will be a tremendous asset to our newsroom and the Houston community,” said KHOU-TV President/GM David Loving. “Her extensive experience across severe weather reporting, reaching audiences across platorms, investigative journalism and community outreach make her an exceptional addition to our team.”
Bonfield added, “I am excited to join KHOU 11 and look forward to serving Houston’s communities through dedicated, integrity-driven local news.”
