It’s an affiliate of the Don Cheto radio program and balances that Estrella Media-originated programming with local hosts such as midday host Pedro Jara.
With sponsors including McDonald’s and, in recent months, Sprint, “La Raza” has proven to be a successful Spanish-language radio station targeting Hispanics of Mexican origin across the Wichita market.
Now, the operators of “La Raza” are selling the property.

KHLT-FM 99.7 in Belle Plaine, Ks., a 50kw Class C2 covering Wichita from the south, is being sold by La Raza LLC.
The transaction is valued at $1.4 million, with La Raza Managing Partner Alan Hsu signing off on the sale of the station. The buyer is Steckline Communications.
This could put an end to the regional Mexican format, which dates to August 20, 2015. It arrived with Daniel D. Smith reassuming ownership of a station that had been sold in 2013 to Air Capitol. That deal was dissolved, as Air Capitol was unable to meet the terms of a Promissory Note.
Previous formats include “Lite” Adult Contemporary (hence its current call letters), and has been at its current dial position since 2011.
Steckline is led by Gregory R. Steckline, and it owns six radio stations along with the Mid-America Network. The company does not have any multicultural properties among its holdings.
