NAPLES, FLA. — The E.W. Scripps Company has promoted its Senior Director of Sales at the Southwest Florida TV station branded as “FOX 4” to the role of Station Manager.
Charlie Slaight is earning the promotion, and he will assist with day-to-day operations of WFTX-TV and lead sales efforts for the Fort Myers-Naples-Bonita Springs broadcast property.
Slaight has been the Senior Director of sales at WFTX since May 2022 and retains that position, a move seen in other markets including San Luis Obispo, where a corporate restructuring led to a reduction-in-force and consolidation of leadership.
“As senior director of sales, he has built a results-driven sales team, creating strategic initiatives to drive revenue and profitability and successfully managing the station’s sales budget,” Scripps said.
Prior to joining The E.W. Scripps Co., Slaight served as General Sales Manager of WGHP-8 in Greensboro. Before that, he was Local Sales Manager for WSMV-4 in Nashville under Meredith Local Media ownership. From 2004-2007, Slaight was LSM for WSFL-TV in Miami under Tribune ownership.
Charlie Slaight holds an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology and a degree in communications journalism from Slippery Rock College in Pennsylvania.
