The Program Director and afternoon host on “Eagle 98.1” in Baton Rouge has earned a promotion. Introducing the new Operations Manager for Guaranty Media‘s group of radio stations in the Louisiana state capital of Baton Rouge.
Earning the role is Michelle Southern, and she will be responsible for leading Guaranty’s strategic efforts both in radio and emerging technologies. Southern will also oversee the radio stations’ marketing efforts as well as the hiring and management of the group’s talent.
A 25-year radio industry veteran, Southern started her career at KNOE Radio in Monroe, La., in 1998. Working for the former Citadel Broadcasting, she’d take on her first Program Director role there. Upon joining Guaranty, she took to the airwaves, becoming a popular Country morning show anchor. After that, Southern spent seven years as a reporter/anchor for the Louisiana Radio Network.
Southern returned to Guaranty Media in 2017, taking the afternoon shift one year later at Classic Rock WDGL “Eagle 98.1.” She added Program Director duties at WDGL in 2022.
Among her accomplishments, Southern has been honored with a Celebration of Service to America Award from the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) for her “Future DJ Radio Day” program.

In addition to her duties as Operations Manager, Southern will continue in her present roles as Program Director and afternoon drive host on Eagle 98.1. I’m honored to be able to contribute to that legacy.”
