The Broadcasters Foundation of America has confirmed the return of broadcast journalist and nationally syndicated talk show host Soledad O’Brien as the emcee of the BFOA 2024 Golden Mic Award gala, scheduled for March 4 at the Plaza Hotel in the City of New York.

The annual event is the biggest fundraiser for the Broadcasters Foundation, whose sole mission is to provide aid to radio and television professionals in acute need. O’Brien first hosted the Golden Mic gala last year.

“Everyone wanted Soledad to come back for a second year,” said Scott Herman, Chair of the Broadcasters Foundation. “She is a well-known and highly respected broadcaster, and we are grateful that she is giving her time and talent to supporting our charitable mission.”

O’Brien currently hosts the nationally syndicated Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien, which is produced by Hearst Television. “The Broadcasters Foundation has an incredible impact on the people in our business who face serious illness or catastrophe and need help,” O’Brien said. “I’m honored to lend my support as the host of their fundraising gala and to pay tribute to this year’s award recipients.”

As previously announced, this year’s BFOA Golden Mic Award honoree is Hearst EVP/COO Jordan Wertlieb. The Edward F. McLaughlin Lifetime Achievment Award will be presented during the gala fundraiser to Deborah Norville, anchor of Inside Edition and a 23-year member of the Broadcasters Foundation Board of Directors.
