Should Sukhdev Dhillon Gain Full Control Of Seattle AM?

In August 2022, BAAZ Broadcasting Corp. emerged as the buyer for expanded band Class B KNTS-AM in Seattle. The transaction closed one month ago. Now, a Petition for Declaratory Ruling has been submitted to the FCC seeking approval of a stock sale that would give 100% ownership of BAAZ to Sukhdev Dhillon.

Dhillon is a Canadian citizen.

As such, BAAZ needs the Commission’s OK to permit the sale of 80% of the company’s stake to Surrey, British Columbia-based Dhillon, CEO of Punjab Radio.

At present, Dhillon holds 20% attributable interest in BAAZ, license of KNTS-AM in Seattle. It acquired the expanded band AM at 1680 kHz from Salem Media Group-affiliated Inspiration Media Inc. for $225,000, and on July 21 closed on the acquisition of the facility.

The 80% equity ownership Dhillon seeks to acquire is presently held by Mohan Cheema, a U.S. citizen. Both also serve as the lead equity interest holders in KZIZ-AM & KKDZ-AM in Seattle — each of which air “Radio Punjab.”

Cheema would earn $75,000 USD from the sale of his shares in BAAZ Broadcasting.

Handling the filing for BAAZ is Anthony T. Lepore of Radiotvlaw Associates.
