Sentencing in TV shooting case

Remember the guy in Wisconsin who shot his television as Bristol Palin danced on ABC, then kept police at bay for 15 hours? Well, he’s struck a deal with prosecutors.

According to local news reports, Steven Cowan pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts and one felony, but no formal conviction was entered on the felony charge so that it can be dismissed if he completes probation without getting in trouble again. He’s been sentenced to three years probation for the misdemeanor convictions.

Cowan had been an elected official, but resigned as a town board member in the Wisconsin Town of Vermont about a month after his November arrest.

The complaint filed with the court said Cowan became angry when Palin appeared on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” saying she was on because of politics, not because she was a good dancer.
