The E.W. Scripps Company has tapped a veteran sales executive who has been with the company since 2016 to lead all revenue strategy and business development efforts across Scripps’ collection of local television stations.
Starting Monday (2/17), he will hold the role of VP of Local Media Sales.
Taking the post is Tony Lamerato, who will be responsible for driving revenue-generating initiatives across Scripps’ local advertising markets.
This, Scripps says, ranges from the monetization of its growing Scripps’ sports inventory to helping the publicly traded company’s local sales teams foster business growth in their communities.
Lamerato rises from the role of VP of Sports Revenue and Sponsorships, focused on the Scripps Sports enterprise led by Brian Lawlor. He gained the role in February 2023, rising from Senior Director of Revenue Strategy for the Scripps Local Media division. Prior to that, he was Director of Sales for WXYZ-7 and WMYD-20 in Detroit. Before joining Scripps, Lamerato was local sales manager at Fox Sports Detroit.
Scripps’ local sports partnerships since Lawlor took over include the Big Sky Conference and the National Hockey League’s Las Vegas Golden Knights, Florida Panthers and Utah Hockey Club.
“Tony is a proven sales leader who goes the extra mile to deliver the best results for both our Scripps teams and our advertisers,” Brian Norris, Scripps’ Chief Revenue Officer, said. “He’ll be an important part of our success as Scripps continues to create meaningful connections with consumers and advertisers on every platform.”
Lamerato serves on the board of directors for the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
